Umi’s Kitchen SG

Malay Cuisine

Umi’s Kitchen SG, a Halal Home based vendor that specialises in traditional Malay cuisine is known for their Rice dishes, Freshly-made Sambal Chillis and traditional Malay kuihs.

Our favourites include their:
Sambal Belado Ijo
Padang Green Chili Relish. Anyone who is a fan of authentic Padang Cuisine would swear with Sambal Cabe Ijo so much so that you could just enjoy this with plain white rice.

Sambal Belado Merah
Similar chunky texture to its cousin Sambal Belado Ijo, the Sambal Belado Merah tastes great either by itself or with simply boiled or steamed vegetables. We also recommend having this with eggs!

Sambal Petai
Inside these long twisty Parkia speciosa pods, you’ll find small, oval shaped, flat green beans the size of large almonds that are much loved all over South East Asia. They are quite bitter and are therefore, almost always cooked or served with stronger tasting flavours like dried shrimp or shrimp paste. When cooked with Sambal and prawns, it’s simply a must-have over your plate of white rice. Soo good!

Sambal Mangga
Native to the Thais and Kelantanese community, the Sambal Mangga is a popular addition to their diet and culinary staple. A traditional condiment for almost everything, Sambal Mangga is a wonderful amalgamation of sweet, savoury and spicy kick on your palate! We love the underripe mango that gives the zesty sour taste especially.

Get your fix of Nasi Belado from Umi’s Kitchen SG which consists of:
-Daging Belado Kentang
-Sambal Telor Bali
-Sayur
-Sambal Belachan Indon
-Rice

Truly this meal will last you the whole day because it’s nutritious, delicious and especially refreshing after binging on all the fast food.

We love how soft Umi’s Kitchen SG Jongkong and Talam Lauk are. Soft and smooth textured, this Jongkong has the melt-in-our-mouth moments. Made mildly sweet with the gula melaka sugar syrup, these Jongkong are makes a great dessert to your Malay meals.

The Talam Lauk are equally soft. Savoury to the palate, the talam lauk is also bursting with dynamic pops of colour from its meat, spring onions and red chilli. Trust us, it is good as much as it looks!

Mango Sticky Rice
A great addition to the menu, the Mango Sticky Rice is known as a traditional Thai dessert made with glutinous rice, fresh mango, palm sugar and coconut milk. It’s heavenly and scrumptious. The ingredients may be simple: coconut cream, glutinous/sticky rice, and mango but no one can deny this Thai dessert magic!
